Weeknote #8 for the week ending 14th June 2020.

## At work

- After 2 months, the deliverables for my [onboarding project](https://jonleverrier.com/notes/weeknote-1) are coming to a close. Feeling reflective. It looks like I've forged an on going relationship - exciting times ahead
- I've been surprised how easy it is to use Vimeo within a closed web application. I'm glad we didn't re-event the wheel by using a custom video player or storage solution
- I talked with Asako from [Geneto, Japan](https://jonleverrier.com/notes/geneto-architects-kyoto-and-tokyo), about launching a COVID-19 community project

## After work

- I made some small accessibility improvements to my website this week
- I added aria-current to my primary navigation
- I made it quicker to tab through my notes section with a keyboard after reading another great article from [Sara Soueidan](https://www.sarasoueidan.com/blog/keyboard-friendlier-article-listings/)
- I finally added a "Skip to main content link"

## Links and inspiration

- [Dan Davies](https://www.dan-davies.co.uk/isdadinameeting/index.html) put together ["Is Dad in a meeting](https://www.dan-davies.co.uk/isdadinameeting/index.html)" - it's just a shame my son isn't old enough to use the internet yet
- Interesting thread about the [UK police working with crowd psychologists](https://twitter.com/MikeRStephens/status/1269933306465923073)
- Benedict Evans discusses the pitfalls of turning physicals events into virtual conferences in ["Solving online events"](https://www.ben-evans.com/benedictevans/2020/6/4/solving-online-events)
- [BrowserStack](https://www.browserstack.com/) launched [SpeedLab](https://www.browserstack.com/speedlab) which is a free tool that lets you test website speed across browsers and devices
- [Artvee](https://artvee.com/) - download and browse public domain classical art
- Make your desktop [presentable](https://pliim.app/) with this great little macOS app

## Life

- It's hard to believe just a month ago we were locked up inside, hiding from the COVD-19 pandemic - what a year this is shaping out to be
- We're expecting a few visitors from friends and family soon - which basically means we've been cleaning away the post lockdown cobwebs
